How To Change A PSP's Faceplate

WARNING: This modification will void your warranty. Use at your own risk.

• First you need a small philips screw driver and a blow dryer if you want to attempt to in tack your warranty. (DON'T TOUCH THE MANUAL!)  



• Unscrew the screw on the underside of the PSP and all the black screws residing in the corners of the back. 


• One of the screws is hidden under the warranty sticker, so if you're skilled enough to remove it without damaging the seal, go on (by using the blow dryer) or else just void it. 


• That's what the PSP looks like without the cover, better to cover it with something so that dust doesn't go on top. Pic 5, Pic 6, Pic 7, Pic 8.




• Start by removing the plastic cover on top of the buttons then remove the buttons themselves but remember their position and start putting them onto the new face plate.


• Remove the analog pad then unscrew the two screws and move the module to the new face plate. All the parts slide in perfectly so don't force it too much. Screw them on until they're tight, the holes don't have grooves yet so go give it a bit of force.

• Leave the manual in place to stop dust from going onto the screen. Pic 12.


• Everything should be fitted except bottom row buttons.

• The bottom buttons have a double sided tape in the middle. Pull from the HOME side because it has thicker plastic. Pic 14.

• Put the cover on and then screw the screws back on. Again, they don't have grooves yet so screw until the face plate doesn't leave a gap between body. You may want to get a brush or something to brush away the dust.

• Final touch ups: Pic 15.

• Masking tape sides of display: Pic 16.

• Splat some Displex. Pic 17.

• POLISH in swirls. Have 2 screen cloths ready, 1 for the polishing, 1 for finishing up. Go in circles and circles.
