Guide: Multi-Disc Psx Eboots With Music

Im going to show you how to make Multi-disc Eboots, and to add music to your bootscreen. I will be using PSX2PSP 1.42 because its so darn easy and fun to use (to me anyway). For the noobies: PSX=PS1

First off you need to rip your Playstation game to your harddrive using one of the various cd ripping software like Alcohol or Clone CD. If you use an iso thats not yours, shame on you :).

Using Alcohol will usually spit out an ISO file (we can work with this) and using Clone CD you will have to set up using the Protected Computer game setting.

Supported files: ISO, BIN, IMG

Now that you have your ISO files, unpack PSX2PSP. Run the Classic Mode and it will bring up a menu like this:

For some reason if you are in "Themed Mode" you can only create 1 disc eboots (in my experiences) but you can see exactly what your eboot is going to look like when you select customize eboot, but only after you set the iso in place. If you do you set the pictures/at3/video file before you load the iso, you will have to re-load them when you do set it. Alternatively in Classic you can see how its going to look by hitting the preview mode.

From here you are going to click the elipses (the three ...) and find the first disc of your psx game. For the next discs use the dropdown menu, click on file 2, 3, 4, 5 for each disc/iso file respectively. should look something like this:

Now that you have your ISOs in place PSX2PSP will assign it a game code/title. I had trouble with games with a - (hypheon) in the name.. if its present, delete it. For some reason the psp will have trouble reading it? Also in previous versions of PSX2PSP and other versions of PSX eboot creators, the Save IDs didnt match up with the first disc so data was lost because the 2nd disc has a different save ID from the first one. PSX2PSP 1.4.2 in Clasic mode *SHOULD* automatically correct this for you. If not, when you load the subsequent discs, make sure BOTH of the numbers in the lower left hand side are identical.

On to the music. In the pack I included, there should be an .at3 codec and Goldwave. First off, you have to install the codec.

BEFORE YOU RUN THE EXECUTABLE, YOU HAVE TO INSTALL THE .INF FILE.

Then run the installer file. You now have a working .at3 codec

We now have to convert the song you want into a .at3 file. Install Goldwave (its the evaluation. Everytime you want to run GW it brings up a lame buy me now message) and run it. You will be greeted by a program with alot of buttons to press, but we are only interested in 2 of them.

Now dump your music file into the program by clicking File->Open. It should look like this now:

Luckily for me the file I want is small, but for a boot song, the file CANNOT exceed 500kb in size, so you may have to listen to the song and adjust the sliders on the very left and right to crop out your song to the position you want playing. If it does, the PSP will NOT recognize your eboot. When you are sure of the positions in the song press the Trim button

The next 2 steps are the most important ones. You need to save it as a wave and in ATRAC3 encoding. Should look something like this:

Save it and go to where you saved it to and rename it to SND0.at3. Thats the number 0 not the letter. (You may have to change your Folder Options so that you can see the extentions for known file types)

Go back to PSX2PSP and load in the SND0 you just made.

Adding pictures: The boot icon has to be 80x80, and the Background has to be 480x272.

Adding a gameboot video: There is a perfect guidehere ([Complete guide to making gameboots] Complete With Links and Pictures). Its not that im lazy, but I have never done it.

There are 11 psp games (to my knowledge) that use dlc for more in-game tracks, and they come in .at3 format. You can use this program to make .at3's and dump them in the UCUS/ULUS/SCUSXXXXMUSIC of the specific game partition in your SAVEDATA FOLDER for your own custom music. This can be done WITHOUT CFW. I will update you with a list with compatible games.

Custom Soundtracks W/O CFW:
GTA: LCS
ATV Offroad Fury Blazin Trails
Crazy Taxi
Burnout: Dominator

If there is a game not on this list please post up.
